In true hypercar style, all 150 of Aston Martin’s AM-RB 001 have been sold out years before they actually go on sale. It’s mad to think that so many manufacturers are pulling off this trick now, but with cars like this, it’s easy to see why.
Aston Martin – in collaboration with Red Bull Racing – unveiled this monster earlier in the year with a price tag of £2.5M upwards. For that money you get 900bhp courtesy of a naturally aspirated V12. Weight is an impressive 900KG. This means you get the infamous 1:1 weight ratio until of course, you ruin their hard work by getting in. It will hit 60mph in just over 2 seconds and carry on to a top speed of over 200mph. Aston insist however, this car is about lap times, not top speed. They also claim the car will be able to lap Silverstone faster than a Formula 1 car!
150 road going units are going to made as well as 25 track only versions. Despite the hefty price tag, Aston Martin boss Andy Palmer said the car was “three times oversubscribed.” Just when you think the Vulcan was a crazy looking thing.
